heh heh... you must know that i find the bag-pipe THE MOST OBNOXIOUS SOUND ON THE PLANET. Well, that and 90% of the songs in The Sound of Music. :p

Wait, scratch that, I'd rather listen to bagpipes than SoM. LOL!!

I'm with Oboe on this one - a frog in a blender sounds better than this instrument.
On a positive note - bless you D.H., I haven't been that slim since I was three.

i absolutely love bag pipes, and i even grew up with a neighbor who would practice for all to hear. while i didn't really like that part (especially as a teen sleeping into the afternoon), i still love the sound - from a safe distance of several feet or more. it evokes something in me - kind of like a battle cry of sorts.

i've also grown up around fife and kettle troupes that always have bag pipers.

i dunno - as loud and obnoxious as it is - i love it. maybe its a new england thing. i like punk, hardcore, and thrash/death metal too, so maybe theres a connection there :D :D :D :D

Darth Guinness on the bagpipes ...

Jkelly2 loves the bagpipes at the annual Irish Festival (we let everyone in). It's the only thing he'll stop and watch for more than 7 minutes.

There's this lady at our church who plays the bagpipes once in a while, and the sound goes right through me. I didn't know it was actually possible to hit such wrong notes on that thing.

But Scotty playing the bagpipes at Spock's "funeral" in The Wrath of Khan, on the other hand, is just beautiful.

starthunder said...

omg! i totally forgot about scotty playing the pipes. awesomeness.

yeah - i agree its the kind of thing that if played badly can be quite excruciating.

i'd love to hear what our resident scotsman has to say!

jk-1: your link is cut off. you have to manually type html tags in the comment area, unless the url is really short.

JSun said...

I've never figured out this link thingy. Cut and paste like in the old days

starthunder said...

< a href="paste url here" >whatever words here< /a >

^ that's how you make a hotlink jk, except in order to get it to show, i had to add spaces after all the < symbols, and before all the > symbols. just take those spaces out and we're good as spice :D

I had seen this one before while browsing YouTube! It's one of my faves!!!

I agree about the Guiness shirt addition to it! PerfeC-T!

Can we make this the anthem of this site?

Excellent idea!

maybe its a new england thing.

Definitely not just a New England thing. Pipes have a nice presence down here in Texas. ;) Pipes bring joy to my heart and the dance out in my feet... :D

Dancin' to the pipes!

Nothing like a little pipe music to get you on your Scottish/Irish Toes!

Thanks for the how-to on the linking thing, JK!! Woo-hoo! (Now let's see if I did it right...) ;)

Exeprimenting since jk posted the hot link instructions for jk. Ummmm...can you two please find some less similar names to go by...Starbuck and Darth Guinness?

DANG IT! It says that the link I have to Ep3 summarised isn't allowed! Trying something else...

OK...I'm doing something WAY wrong, Starbuck...

starthunder said...

starthunder said...
